Clan BonecrunchLore - Organization Canon
864 b. OW - 422 b. OW
The entity known as Clan Bonecrunch was a rough feeling of political appartenance among orcish tribes and clans on Balebu. It occasionally had real existence as a polity or even a state (usually a loose to strong alliance of lesser clans), but most often - and for centuries after its notional fall - was simply an idea. Arguably, Bonecrunch can also describe an orcish culture, though there were still massive differences in traditions and languages on Balebu.
History
First Bonecrunch, 864 - 834
"Clan Bonecrunch" appeared for the first time, to describe an alliance of all the major clans on northern Balebu.
The clan splintered in 834 when Grand Lord Orgen-Uruk died. One powerful splinter clan were the Sky-Sons, under the leadership of the Warlord Uglaf.
Resurgent Bonecrunch, 815 - 744
The clans found unity again around 815, holding big talks in major Lake of Stars cities like Torgganborg. The Sky-Sons were foremost among these efforts, because of war with Trensandor. This new Bonecrunch did not have one chief, however, but was rather a loose alliance of major clans coordinating their strategic interests.
Exodus, 788
Due to massive Bromal advances, disease, and warfare in the east, a large part of the population fled westwards, overpopulating those regions and even emigrating, notably to Trensandor.
Internal tensions notably led to the end of the Sky-Sons clan, with several lesser clans claiming the legacy.
Two-Clan Bonecrunch, 666 - 635
Talks began again about forming a formal, united alliance, ideally with one chief. However, two major factions were unable to agree, and as a result (informally) two separate alliances emerged.
The alliance centered on Torgganborg tried raising the son of mixed alliance leaders (raised by Torgganborg elites) to be the chief of a united Bonecrunch, but the son himself went wild and took up a dominion in the Sunset foothills, thwarting this effort.
The two-alliance status quo collapsed due to political-religious turmoil, only for a sudden religious solution in the form of a holy triple brotherhood (from three apparent fathers and two mothers, with some intersecting and uncertainty), coupled with political flux, to unite all the clans just in time for a great spurt of international orcish allying.
Great Alliances, 633 - 629
Bonecrunch allied with Drubark in the north and later the Orcish Alliance in the south, in the aim of making war. Bonecrunch fought mostly against the Dwarven Nordpalb provinces.
The alliance collapsed in 629, after Drubark was defeated in the Ferdrskjisle and sought parlay with Bonecrunch's enemies.
Collapse, 429
Bonecrunch collapsed, with many clan leaders renouncing all belonging to Bonecrunch to strengthen their own legitimacy.
