Alphred Norgenu was a soldier in the army of the Free Phoenix. He was known for his legendary "solo" battles against the Dwarven Empire during the 30 Years War; notably the events of the Siege of Hobbentolm, when he held off overwhelming enemy forces on his own, and his brave assaults using motor barges during the South Maltazar Island Campaign. In fact, he was usually part of a company of extraordinary soldiers, but his bravery is certainly warranted.

Alphred's years of active service were 293 - 311 OW. He became a front-line lieutenant in 296, but took on a more settled officer command after 306. He retired afterwards, working for a while in logistics and from his officer's pension. This was cut in 330, whereupon he reenlisted in a legate's staff as part of the Grand Empire home front in order to regain his officer's benefits. He definitively retired in 335, with special leave due to his ill health.

Alphred was known popularly as the "Immortal Sea-Man" for his extraordinary achievements in the 30 Years War. Stories of his exploits entered military legend, especially so the Whistle of the Waves.
