Archipelago states was generally a collective term for civilized societies in the Colupan Archipelago; it was occasionally also used to describe all states in the area.

The human archipelago states were often associated with internationalism, technological progress, and political progressivism.

History

The first archipelago states appeared when the Colupan humans gained independence from the Trensandor Empire. They were not unified, but cooperated somewhat to survive. They also traded with the port city Drummir-Fjor and later with Ochebana's Longhorn Bay.

The city-states federated under Denise in 400 b. OW. They were the first real embodiment of progressivism by incorporating popular representation in electing parts of the government.

Internationalist Era, x

First contact was made between Colupan and the human west in x, engendering an era of international human cooperation. Notable was the invasion and state-building of Turlu, whose administration was notably representative of all interested parties, democratic, and progressivist.

The archipelago was the "bustling bazaar of humanity". It was the meeting place of Cuprien, Ochebana and Denise, the three major human states of the time.
