Yellow-Sky Meteorological PhenomenonLore - Geography Canon

The Yellow-Sky phenomenon, also called sand cloud, occurred in southern Litchy and the Archaen, when desert dust in high altitudes swept southwards and gave the sky a yellow tinge.

Mechanics

Occasionally, dust from Litchy's central deserts was swept high into the atmosphere. Given the right conditions, usually calm and cool air, this dust could be swept southwards. Southern Litchy turned bright orange and surfaces were sometimes noticeably covered in dust, while the northern Archaen received more of a yellowish tinge to the sky.

The cloud could last anywhere between half a day and up to a tenday. Yellow-Sky occurred on average two or three times a year, though there were sometimes several more occurrences.

In Folklore

Southern Litchy was relatively used to the Yellow-Sky and attached various meanings to it. Children born during it were believed to be stronger or more mentally endowed; there was also a symbolism of "golden day". Since the dust was not visible at night, most people believed that Yellow-Sky was a purely diurnal occurrence, and Black-Sky - when the cloud passed over in the night and left a dust cover the next morning - was an omen of plagues and bad health.

In the Archaen, where visible occurrences were rarer, people associated more negative things with Yellow-Sky. It was sometimes said to be the dust of "demon-carriages riding through the sky".
