The Chicken God, also known as Shahlisor and Feathered One, was a mysterious but very powerful deity that emerged during the Celestial Wars.

History

The Chicken God was initially a great celestial warlord called Shahlisor. He led units of archangels against demonic troops on the material plane. He had great spellcasting power, more than most other deities, and his skill was further improved when he garnered the Oculus Garnet of the Weave from a defeated demon lord. With it, he gained essentially complete control over the magical dimension, granting him the ability to distribute the strain caused by his spells over the entire fabric of magic, granting him essential unlimited power as long as the Weave lasted. He used huge amounts of it to gain deep cosmic knowledge and empower himself, notably by consuming demonic souls through the Weave.

But this corrupted him, and he grew both mad and inherently chaotic. He no longer truly controlled his body or thoughts, using his powers to destroy nearly everything around him. In 42'350 b. OW, in what was called the Poultrification, the hero celestial warlord transformed horribly, turning into a huge feathered beast. In this process, the Garnet he was wearing was embedded into his heart. Thereafter, he turned completely mad, inventing a whole new race in his image out of thin air - something that had never been done before - and using the Weave to create thousands of them. The strains he imposed on it almost completely destroyed the very dimension, while he submerged battlefields with hundreds of thousands of chickens. They were useless in battle, being simply dumb beasts under no one's control.

Eventually, a coalition of celestial and devilish armies defeated him, cutting him off from most of the Weave and making him quickly use up the few strands available to him before putting him in D'Mert-lum shackles and imprisoning him in a fortress in Bytopia. The chicken were not hunted down, but left to fend for themselves, while Shahlisor - now known as Feathered One - was forgotten for the moment.

When the Celestial Wars finally ended in the Dictation, it was decided that the Feathered One had to be gotten rid of. However, the powers of the Oculus Garnet were necessary in the recreation of the Weave, and killing him would destroy it - but the Bytopians also had no wish to keep him further. Instead, he was banished to the 1872nd Layer of the Abyss, a place so deep that it was impossible for him to leave.

Although travel through the layers that far down was near-impossible and the Feathered One never did succeed to escape his wasteland, the intrinsic connection between his Garnet and the Weave allowed him to project himself up into the Weave, setting up a fugue there. He became known as the Chicken God as clerics discovered his occult knowledge and became able to "summon chicken" - teleport chicken from a random location on their plane towards them.

The Chicken God never recovered his sanity, but did considerably calm down during his millennia of isolation before building his fugue and gaining followers. He was still mad concerning chicken, but he was also capable of plotting, finding reasonable ways to attain goals, and manipulating magic even when imprisoned in one of the locations as far from the Weave as could be.
