The swim club of the Port Astra University catered university students with professional coaches.

Port Astra University became a free, civilian university following State formation (with heavy Northern Fleet financing and influence). It encouraged the creation and continuation of student clubs, many of which it inherited from its legacy. There was a push, including from the financiers, for a more coherent sports offer, and thus the leisure "Seagulls Club" was succeeded by the university-administered official Swim Club.

The club received financing from the university and was able to hire three professional coaches with these funds. The Fleet Scholarship Programme also offered four scholarships tied to top swimming performances, whose training was integrated in the swim club's activities. It offered casual distance-swimming and aquadance activities, dedicated training for all national disciplines, and training for basic and navy water safety brevets.

The club added open-water swimming, free diving, and diving to its activities in 426 (at the same time as the Surface Watersports Club was founded and a seaside clubhouse was purchased).

Port Astra University expanded its campus with a sports complex including a large pool in 432, which became the club's home pool.

The university cut its budget and disbanded most of its sports clubs, including the Swim Club, in 446, when it lost most Northern Fleet funding. The professional side of its programme, including the Fleet scholarships, were directly transferred to the Port Astra Puffins Public Watersports Club, while student-organised swimming was taken on by the new Uni Swimmers Society.
