CelestialsLore - Race Canon
True celestials were one of the three supernatural "races" known as the Triad: celestials, demons, and devils. They were found mostly in the western Outer Planes, also known as the Positive Planes.
Characteristics
What distinguished a supernatural race from other creatures was its immortality. Whenever a celestial died, its soul returned to its native plane, where the local magic reincarnated it in a new body. As such, celestials were truly immortal.
Additionally, many celestials shared common traits distinguishing them from demons and devils. Many celestials looked "aesthetically pleasing" on the Ochebanian average, and resembled common mortal races like gaians or fey. It was however usual for celestials to be able to change their physical appearance to some extent.
Celestials had a close connection to the Weave, and notably could draw from the Celestial Fugue while in the Positive Planes; they often wielded great magical power.
Pseudo-Celestials
Often, when people spoke of "celestials", they did not mean true celestials in the strict sense - truly immortal beings of great power - but of a more general type of creatures, those associated with good and the positive plane. This broader class of "celestials" encompassed all powerful beings who fought on the celestial side during the Celestial Wars and their descendants; for example angels.
