The gaians, often called true humans, were a humanoid race native to Thozeia. They developed some time after the Dictation out of the faeling race, and inhabited most of Ochebana as one of the most common and adaptable races.

Biology

Physiology

Gaians were taller and more muscular than their related fey. They were actually not fey, having round ears; this was mainly because of magical reasons, since the gaians lost the strong connection to the Feywild's life fugue that allowed such physical and magical capabilities. Instead, the gaians were a gritty race able to live anywhere no matter the magic around them. Sometimes, they were called crass by fey, because they had much less natural access to magic and most often relied on holy power to cast relatively destructive spells.

Reproduction. Gaians had two genders: male and female. Their sexual and weaning organs fully developed around the age of 14, and they reproduced sexually.

Giving Birth. Compared to lighter faelings, gaians had very corpulent and dense builds that required a more powerful skeletal structure, including a wider pelvis. Because of this, their birth canals were much smaller. In order to deal with this, babies were born much earlier than usual, after only about half a year. Accordingly, they were relatively "dumb" and required much care for the first few years of their life. This however made them very adaptable, being able to live in a huge variety of environments.

Aging. Gaian bodies, like faelings but even more so, aged relatively quickly. After about 50 years, gaians grew too old to perform many basic tasks, relying on others to survive. Their hair turned darker and shorter the older they got, until they were fully bald. Their eyes also gradually turned milky white. Although aging speeds were different, everyone eventually died at the exact same age of 54 years and 22 days. Then, eyes fully glazed over to a milky white, the skin turned more bleached, and the body grew rigid. Gaian souls were almost always directly attributed to a god, and immediately joined that deity in the afterlife.

Psychology

Gaians were a social race that sought to be strong on their own. Many gaians, especially young adults, went their own way to seek battle or scholarly success. Due to their short life span, humans sought to feel fulfillment; this echoed in young ones in a strive for some kind of success, while older ones gained satisfaction from leadership in a small circle - in families, raising children - or as full-scale politicians or officers.
